Our Mentors

XciteSteps Team

Our San Diego mentors are young, enthusiastic, energetic, skilled professionals. Most work for us part time while simultaneously pursuing careers as special education teachers, social workers, counselors, and behavioral therapists or are students pursuing related degrees. We attract people who are ethical, fun, spontaneous, athletic, charismatic and reliable. Our mentors are very personable which creates a good first impression. Often this is an important component in developing a relationship with the child, teen or adult right away. We have an eclectic group. Many of our mentors have hobbies and interests that we are able to incorporate into the mentoring program. For example, if a child was wishing to learn an instrument or sport, we could pair him or her with a mentor who has an expertise in this area. Many of our mentors have worked with Xcite Steps for several years and have maintained long-term relationships with the families they have worked with.

Xcite Steps has the goal of ensuring quality care for each family. To ensure this quality of excellence, all our mentors go through a series of interviews and are given a background check before becoming an Xcite Steps mentor.
